Christopher Howell’s interest
in magic began when he was seven years old and saw David Copperfield
perform at a local fair near his hometown in Michigan. That Christmas his parents gave him a magic set
and from that point on, his interest and skills in magic grew exponentially.
At the age of thirteen Christopher performed his first show professionally.
Throughout high school he developed and performed his first stage show in small
Michigan theatres with his assistant Alison Bartlett. Each evening’s show culminated in his favorite
stage illusion first made famous by Houdini, The Metamorphosis.
When Christopher was seventeen years old his family moved to London,
England and he went along to pursue a double-major degree in Theatre
Arts and Studio Arts. In London Christopher continued to develop his magic,
performing in public and private events. After
University he began studying opera and for five years he trained (in London
and Bologna, Italy) with the intention of pursuing a career as an opera
singer.
Having decided to pursue magic instead, Christopher is now a full-time magician based in London yet music
is still an important part of his work; particularly in his cabaret and stage shows.
In these, each music piece is carefully selected to enhance the desired
theatrical mood of the magic being demonstrated. A true performer whose medium is magic, Christopher is excited by how a ‘theatre
bubble’ seems to form around those involved in the presentation;
how magic is the vehicle to move them to another place completely.
In 2002 he gained membership to the prestigious Magic
Circle. Christopher also holds a diploma as a certified life coach and has created Project Illusions which uses magic to teach personal development. Christopher speaks Italian and German and when he’s not working he enjoys spending time in Italy.
